Manchester United captured the Women’s Championship title on this day three year ago in their first season as a professional club.
The Red Devils, who were managed by former England captain Casey Stoney, dominated the competition, winning 18 of their 20 league games, only losing once and drawing once as well.
United’s squad boasted a mix of youth and experience and on April 20, 2019 came up against a Crystal Palace side sat 10th in the table.
Stoney’s team dominated their opposition, beating the Eagles 7-0 at Leigh Sports Village and claimed the second-tier title in the process thanks to goals from Jess Sigsworth, Leah Galton, Lizzie Arnot and a quartet from Lauren James.

1. Siobhan Chamberlain

3. Aimee Palmer
Still only 21, Palmer featured in 13 of United’s league games that season. She departed the Red Devils for Bristol City in 2020 after spending the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Sheffield United. Photo: Getty Images
4. Millie Turner
