It is shaping up to be a busy summer at Manchester United, but they might hope it is even busier. Ruben Amorim has a long list of improvements he would like to make to the playing squad, though there is only so much they can do when the finances are so tight.
United are embarking on a post-season tour to help raise revenue, while their confirmed pre-season opponents are further evidence of how far behind they are the leading elite. The financial situation would be significantly improved if United win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League, though that is easier said than done for a side 13th in the Premier League.
Once again, player sales will be essential to raise money and ease any concerns about breaching financial fair play rules. However, it is another issue that is much harder to do in practice. With all that in mind, here is a look at a realistic summer transfer window for United given all of their current issues.

11. Striker - SIGNED
United have prioritised the addition of a striker this summer, but who they sign will depend on whether they qualify for the Champions League. Liam Delap and Jonathan David are both realistic targets. | Getty Images

12. Central midfielder - SIGNED
Amorim wants a ball-carrying central midfielder. Adam Wharton would be a dream addition but Championship stars Hayden Hackney and Chris Rigg might be more realistic options, along with Newcastle man Sean Longstaff. | Getty Images
