Erik ten Hag has issued a fitness update ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Burnley.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has issued team news ahead of his side’s clash with Burnley this weekend.

United have put together a disappointing start to the campaign, winning just twice and losing three in the Premier League, while they also lost their Champions League opener at Bayern Munich earlier this week. Ten Hag is under some early pressure after a second consecutive slow start to the season, while squad issues are also dominating headlines, with Jadon Sancho and the Dutchman falling out.

The good news is that games come thick and fast at this stage of the season, and United head to Burnley this weekend to take on Vincent Kompany’s newly promoted side.

Burnley have just one point so far, although they do have a game in hand, and they will be hoping to become the next side to cause United and Ten Hag problems. Meanwhile, United will be hoping to make a statement at Turf Moor to move away from the stress of recent weeks, and ahead of the clash, Ten Hag has issued an injury update.

“As you say, Harry Maguire (is out) but we will see again after training,” Ten Hag said during his pre-match press conference. “But Varane will train, we will see, Amrabat will train, we will see and Mount as well. But they didn’t play for short or longer-term. Varane, obviously, was the shortest out.”

Speaking about Burnley and the challenge United face, Ten Hag added: “We know how intense they play football, we know their approach, I like the approach from them, the adventure, high intensity and their dynamic game, so we have to play our best.”
