West Ham vs Man Utd injury & illness latest: Eight ruled out & four doubts - gallery
Manchester United are expected to be without at least five players for Sunday’s Premier League match.
Erik ten Hag and David Moyes both provided the latest team news ahead of West Ham United vs Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend.
It’s a game with plenty on the line, with the Hammers looking nervously over their shoulders at the relegation battle beneath them, and West Ham will most likely need to add to their 34 points if they’re to avoid the drop. United are also monitoring the form of the sides chasing them, although the Red Devils have a four-point gap to fifth-place Liverpool and still have a game in hand.
Ten Hag was frustrated with his side’s efforts on Thursday as they were beaten 1-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex, courtesy of Alexis Mac Allister’s 99th-minute penalty. The United boss is set to be without five players for Sunday’s trip to the London Stadium, while Ten Hag gave an encouraging fitness update on Alejandro Garnacho on Friday.
As for West Ham’s availability, the squad have been rocked by illness this week. The Hammers could only name seven substitutes for Wednesday’s loss to Manchester City, with Nayef Aguerd, Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice missing out altogether.
Moyes was asked about the trio in Friday’s pre-match press conference and revealed that at least two others have come down with the virus since Wednesday night. The London club also have three injury concerns, two of which have been picked up in the last week.
With all that in mind, here’s a full breakdown of the two club’s team news ahead of Sunday’s game…
