Manchester United and Manchester City already know who their next FA Cup opponents will be, albeit the former still need to book their place in the next round.

The Red Devils are in fifth round action on Wednesday night, taking on fellow Premier League club Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. The FA Cup is the last remaining shot at silverware for Erik ten Hag's men, who did not enjoy successful campaigns in either of the League Cup or Champions League.

It's for that reason Ten Hag will take the FA Cup pretty seriously, but the path to Wembley is not a straightforward one.

That's because should United beat Forest on Wednesday, they will go up against the victor of the clash between Liverpool and Southampton.

Southampton have enjoyed a strong season in the Championship, but they have now lost back-to-back games, and a tricky tie awaits them at Anfield.

Liverpool are fresh off winning the Carabao Cup over the weekend, defeating Chelsea after extra time, and they will be eyeing a potential quadruple this season, sitting top of the Premier League, and still in both the FA Cup and Europa League.

Luckily for United, they have been drawn home in the quarter final, should they progress, securing an advantage for the North West derby that may await. The winner of that clash will march on to a Wembley semi-final.

As for City, they booked their place in the quarter finals with ease on Tuesday night, thrashing Luton Town, and they will face Newcastle United at home in the next round. Elsewhere, Wolves or Brighton will face Coventry City and Chelsea or Leeds will face Leicester City.
