Man Utd boss on 'shortlist' for top European job

Under-pressure Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is admired by European giants and Champions League hopefuls Bayern Munich, according to reports.

Ten Hag’s long-term future at Old Trafford remains in doubt after a disappointing league campaign, though United have made it to the final of the FA Cup against city rivals Manchester City later this month.

Fresh reports claim Bayern are considering the United chief as one option to replace Thomas Tuchel this summer, himself having been linked with the Old Trafford hotseat. A number of potential candidates have already turned Bayern down including Ralf Rangnick, Julian Nagelsmann and Xabi Alonso, who was also a target for Liverpool.

Sky Sports report: “Bayern Munich have placed Erik ten Hag on a new list of possible successors to Thomas Tuchel, but his focus is steadfastly on Manchester United.

“Sky Sports News understands the Bundesliga giants have touched base with Ten Hag's agent Kees Vos to enquire if the Dutchman would be open to taking over at the Allianz Arena. No formal talks have taken place with the United head coach himself, but he has been made aware of Bayern's interest.”

The report adds that Ten Hag’s ‘sole focus is on finishing the season strongly’. United are away to Crystal Palace this evening in the Premier League.

Ahead of the game, it was announced referee Jarred Gillett will wear a camera during the game - as part of filming for a one-off short programme promoting match officials. This is a one-off, it has been stressed. It has been approved by the game’s lawmakers, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), as well as the Premier League, Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) and the clubs.
