The Manchester United received a straight red card against Copenhagen in the last European game.

Uefa have confirmed Marcus Rashford will receive a one-match suspension in the Champions League.

The Manchester United forward was sent off in the 4-3 loss to Copenhagen earlier this month, in a controversial decision as the 26-year-old inadvertently stood on the ankle of Elias Jelert in the latter stages of the first half.

But Uefa have confirmed Rashford will only sit out one match, Wednesday’s trip to Galatasaray, and means he will be available for the final game of the group stage when Bayern Munich come to Old Trafford on 12 December.

Erik ten Hag was disappointed with the decision at the time and felt it changed the course of a match United were leading 2-0 in, but ended up being beaten.

“It’s harsh,” said the Dutchman. “He went for the ball and the referee had such a long time to make it a red card.

“When you freeze it, it looks worse. It takes them so long and they make a red card out of it. I am so disappointed with such decisions and I think the game is never meant to be like this.

“This has nothing to do with football. Decisions have to be made and I accept that wrong decisions are made, but at this level, three such tough decisions… You control the game, I think the game is never meant to be like that.”

While Ten Hag will be delighted to have Rashford available for the Bayern clash, the United boss will need the forward's form to dramatically improve, with Rashford scoring just once in 16 appearances this season.
