Manchester United have been handed a fitness boost with the return to training of Christian Eriksen.

The midfielder has been out of action for a month with a knee problem but he returned to training on Monday, the club has announced. It comes as a boost for Erik ten Hag following the goalless draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

The 31-year-old midfielder has been out after picking up the injury five weeks ago during the first half of the 1-0 win against Luton.

A club statement read: "The Danish midfielder has returned to working with his team-mates following a month-long spell on the sidelines. Eriksen has made 15 appearances so far this season, scoring once - against Nottingham Forest in August - but he hasn't featured since the 1-0 home win over Luton Town on Saturday 11 November."

It added: "Eriksen was involved in this morning's session, following Sunday's goalless draw at Anfield, where Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford returned to the side after injury and illness respectively."
