The January transfer market is open and Manchester United are facing their first window under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

The German has been tasked with finishing in the top four of the Premier League after he replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November.

Several names have been linked with a move to the Red Devils - let’s take a look at who the bookmakers think could make a switch to Old Trafford this month.

Ruben Neves - 5/2

Ruben Neves and United continue to be linked since the Portuguese international has become an established Premier League midfielder.

The 24-year-old can play as a defensive, central or attacking-midfielder, with the former his more recognised position.

Reports from The Daily Star suggest Neves could be available for £60m, with the player able to link-up with fellow countrymen Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo if a move were to materialise.

Julian Alvarez - 4/1

A name heavily rumoured to be on the Red Devils radar after his impressive form for River Plate in the Argentinian top flight last year, Julian Alvarez is a young, hungry forward who would add much-needed firepower to the club’s frontline.

The 21-year-old scored 24 goals for Los Millonarios during this time and helped guide them to the 2021 Primera Division in December - their first in seven years.

Kalvin Phillips joining the Red Devils, especially considering his love from Leeds United fans, would go down as one of the most interesting transfers in recent memory.

A holding-midfielder, the position United need to strengthen in, Phillips has impressed in the role for his club, earning himself 19 caps for England to date.

If the 26-year-old were to leave Leeds for United, he’d be following in Alan Smith’s footsteps in 2004, with the latter receiving ‘Judas’ status from the Yorkshire outfit’s fans after.

Declan Rice - 7/1

Declan Rice and the Red Devils have been linked for some time now, with the West Ham United player another holding-midfielder on the club’s radar.

Despite their interest in Rice, a hefty price tag of £100m has been set for the England international, something that might fend off the Red Devils for the time being.

Statistically, Rice would be a better option to Scott McTominay and Fred in many ways, with the Hammers midfielder averaging a significantly better average to the duo.

Timo Werner - 9/1

Chelsea forward Timo Werner has been linked with a move to United since the arrival of Rangnick in November.

The 25-year-old knows the German manager well, having worked with him during the 2018-19 season at RB Leipzig.

That campaign saw Werner net 18 goals and assist his team-mates on 13 occasions in 38 appearances.

In his two seasons with Chelsea, he hasn’t been as prolific in front of goal, however, his familiarity with Rangnick could be exactly why the German pair could potentially reunite at Old Trafford in the near future.
