The five Man Utd players 'set' to leave Old Trafford this summer after contract decisions made

Five Manchester United players are in the final months of their respective deals at Old Trafford

Manchester United will hope to enter the summer transfer window with their partial takeover fully completed after Sir Jim Ratcliffe's deal to buy a 25 per cent stake in the club was approved by the Premier League and the Football Association.

Just a handful of minor steps remain before the deal is fully completed, as United turn their focus towards the summer and how they can help bolster Erik ten Hag's side for the 2024-25 campaign, with Ratcliffe's Ineos Group to take control of football operations at Old Trafford.

Some decisions on United's squad have already been made, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof seeing their contracts extended until 2025 after the club exercised 12-month options in their respective deals. Hannibal Mejbri also had his 12-month option triggered before heading on loan to Sevilla, with the Spanish club given an option to buy the player this summer.

Following those extensions earlier in the campaign, it means there are just five senior players coming to the end of their contracts at United. And below we run through the latest on each of them.

Raphael Varane

Ten Hag revealed last week the club had not made a decision on whether to keep Varane. United still have the option to trigger a 12-month extension to keep the former Real Madrid man next season but that has not been taken up yet. Varane is currently free to agree a pre-contract deal with clubs outside of England.

Jonny Evans

Ten Hag was also asked about the possibility of keeping Evans at the club beyond this season but confirmed a decision was not yet made. Evans signed a one-year deal with the club after leaving Leicester City but is not believed to have a 12-month option in his contract and a new deal would need to be agreed.

Anthony Martial

The Frenchman signed a new five-year deal in 2019 but it is reported the club are not currently planning to trigger an extension in his deal, allowing him to depart as a free agent in the summer.

Tom Heaton

United triggered a one-year option in the goalkeeper's contract last summer, meaning he will leave the club at the end of the campaign unless a new deal can be agreed.

Sofyan Amrabat

The midfielder is on loan from Serie A side Fiorentina, with the deal including an option for United to make the move permanent. The Moroccan international will make the move back to Italy if Ten Hag's side opt against buying him.
