The 21 shock players Manchester United’s Fred is beating in goal involvements this season

The Brazilian netted again as Manchester United beat Leeds United on Sunday.

Fred made a goalscoring introduction when he came off the bench in Sunday’s Premier League game between Manchester United and Leeds United.

The midfielder replaced Paul Pogba midway through the second half at Elland Road and helped wrestle control back for the Red Devils after Leeds had cancelled out the visitors’ first-half advantage.

Thanks in part to Fred, United went on to win 4-2 in Yorkshire, and strengthened their Champions League aspirations.

That was Fred’s third Premier League goal of the season, while he’s also registered three assists in 2021/22, meaning he has six goal involvements. That’s the same number as attack-minded players Danny Ings, Gabriel Martinelli, Marcus Rashford and Hakim Ziyech have produced this term.

Fred struggled to add goals and assists to his game in previous seasons, but he’s surprisingly outperformed 21 offensive Premier League players for goal contributions this term.

Thanks in part to Fred, United went on to win 4-2 in Yorkshire, and strengthened their Champions League aspirations.
