Manchester United hope to sign another midfielder this window, in addition to the arrival of Mason Mount.

Manchester United have identified Sofyan Amrabat as a potential midfield signing this summer.

The Moroccan could join United in the coming weeks, although adding a goalkeeper and striker remain the key priorities for the club in the transfer market. Amrabat has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal at Fiorentina and could represent a relatively cheap option for the Red Devils as they look to add greater depth to their midfield ranks.

The Independent claim United will have to sell before they can pursue a move for the 26-year-old. Scott McTominay could join West Ham United this window to fund Amrabat’s transfer, while Harry Maguire may also depart.

Meanwhile, Italian outlet La Gazetta dello Sport have claimed Amrabat has requested to leave Fiorentina, with the Serie A side set to demand a fee of around €35m (£30m) to sign the midfielder. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also interested in the player, who looks unlikely to be playing in Florence next season.

Speaking in June, the ex-Feyenoord and Club Brugge man admitted he would one day like to play in the Premier League as it ‘could suit’ him. "Of course, the Premier League is a fantastic league, one of the strongest in the world,” Amrabat said ahead of the Europa Conference League final loss to West Ham.

“It would be nice to play there one day, but it's not that I want only to go to England because Spain is nice, Serie A is a nice league. Football has changed a lot, it's more physical, you have more to be an athlete, the tempo and intensity is higher. Of course, in England the intensity is very high, so I think it could suit me."

Amrabat had 49 appearances for Fiorentina in 2022/23 and played every single minute of Morocco's incredible World Cup run as the African nation finished fourth.
