Man City matched Man Utd’s achievement of winning the treble as they were crowned Champions League winners on Saturday

Pep Guardiola feels his Manchester City side have put themselves among the greats after winning the Champions League to complete an historic treble.

Rodri scored the only goal of the game in the second half as City defeated Inter Milan 1-0 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.

It completed a remarkable season that had already saw Guardiola’s side win the Premier League and FA Cup - matching the achievement of their rivals Manchester United from 1999.

“You have to win in Europe to be considered a great team and we did it,” said Guardiola.

He continued: “I don’t want to disappear after one Champions League. We have to work hard next season and be there.

“There are teams who win the Champions League and disappear. We have to avoid that. Knowing me it is not going to happen but it is a big relief to have this trophy.”

With both teams completing the treble, we have put together the best XI from the two treble-winning sides from 1998-99 and 2022-23. Agree with our picks below?
