Sir Jim Ratcliffe wealth amid Man Utd takeover news - compared to Man City, Newcastle & Chelsea owners gallery

There was big news on the takeover front after an announcement made on Tuesday.

The company owned by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has officially entered the bidding to buy Manchester United.

Just under two months have passed since the Glazer family confirmed they were ‘exploring strategic alternatives’ including the possible sale of the 13-time Premier League champions that would bring an end to their controversial 17-year ownership at Old Trafford.

A number of parties were immediately linked with a bid to take control of the club , with electronic giants Apple and investment groups from the Middle East said to be among the front-runners. Ineos, the firm owned by Failsworth-born Ratcliffe, were also said to be among the interested parties and they have now shown their hand.

A spokesman for Ineos said: “We have officially put ourselves into the process.” However, there could be one complicating factor with the company already owning French club Nice.

ManchesterWorld assesses how Ratcliffe’s wealth compares to other potential owners of the Red Devils and their current Premier League rivals.
