Manchester United could be without as many as nine players when they face Man City in the Community Shield this weekend.
Erik ten Hag's side will be hoping for a repeat performance of their FA Cup final triumph when they face their noisy neighbours at Wembley, but will have to do so with a makeshift squad.
Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro are both long-term absentees heading into the new season, while a handful of defenders have doubts surrounding them ahead of the curtain-raiser on Saturday afternoon.
With the Premier League season beginning next week, Ten Hag won't want to take any selection risks against City and could give those players and extra few days to recuperate ahead of facing Fulham at Old Trafford.
