Scott McTominay and Jadon Sancho were notable absentees from the Manchester United squad for Sunday’s Premier League game against Arsenal.

The pair were both named in the first three matchday squads this season, but missed the fourth at the Emirates. No reason has yet been given why they were omitted.

With McTominay and Sancho out, United opted to start with Andre Onana in nets, ahead of a back four of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot. In midfield, the Red Devils lined up with Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes, while Antony, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford made up the attacking trio.

Erik ten Hag named Rasmus Hojlund on the bench, along with deadline-day arrivals Atlay Bayindir, Jonny Evans and Sergio Reguilon. Youngsters Dan Gore and Hannibal were also selected among the substitutes. Sofyan Amrabat's registration was held by a visa issue, therefore he was not named in the 20-man squad at the Emirates.

Tom Heaton, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Amad were all absent through injury. As for Arsenal, Thomas Partey wasn't involved due to injury.

A win for United will see them move onto nine points from the opening 12 available, and up to sixth in the table.
