Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes both grabbed a brace in the 5-2 win, while Alejandro Garnacho scored the other as United scored five goals against Premier League opposition for the first time since Solskjaer was in charge.
There were also similarities in the match to the Norwegian's first game in charge as caretaker manager when they defeated Cardiff City 5-1 and after the game, Van Nistelrooy joked he would text his former teammate about the similarity. "OK. Well, I draw with Ole. I will text him about this. Thanks to the players, it happened," he joked with MUTV.

Now in this role, I’m helping as long as needed. In the future in any capacity, I’m here to help the club further to build towards the future that’s what I'm here for. I’m here to help and serve and give my everything for the club in any capacity with so many people here around me that want the best for the club and that will never change."
