As Ruben Amorim settles into his new role and gets his feet under the table at Manchester United, the transfer rumours are starting to circulate. There have already been links with the Portuguese coach and his former side, suggesting Amorim could make quick work of bringing some of his former players to Old Trafford.
There are also plenty of rumours building up around the future of existing United stars. Marcus Rashford has been in the headlines lately as his place within the team becomes more of a grey area. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has said there will be ‘no passengers’ within this team moving forwards and is ready to ‘cut his losses’ on Rashford if a club makes an approach in January, as per The Guardian.

Hide AdRashford may not be the only big name on the chopping block in the new year either. Atlético Madrid are reportedly keen on signing Alejandro Garnacho in the new year and Amorim is ‘willing to facilitate’ his exit. That’s according to Fichajes, who have reported that Diego Simeone believes the Argentine international could ‘be key’ to strengthening Atlético’s attack, especially if Antoine Griezmann moves on in the summer.
Amorim ‘seems determined’ to oversee a ‘clean-up in the dressing room’ as he moves forward with United. Based on the the most recent exit links, both Rashford and Garnacho could be approaching their final weeks of their Old Trafford chapters. Amorim, who took charge of his first match with United last month, is reportedly not holding back when it comes to laying down foundations for this new era in Manchester.
Amorim ‘will not hesitate’ to offload players who do not fit in with his footballing vision and Atlético could take advantage of this ruthless approach to his squad. Garnacho spent five years in Atlético Madrid’s youth system before his move to the Red Devils for a small fee.
The 20-year-old is now valued at €50 million (£41m) by Transfermarkt and he is under contract until 2028, so United will be able to command a handsome transfer fee and make a significant profit through a potential Garnacho sale.

Man United produced a superb 2-1 win over rivals Manchester City during their last Premier League, to hammer a further nail into the coffin that is Pep Guardiola’s title hopes. Despite conceding in the first half and looking set to accept a 1-0 defeat, two goals in as many minutes at the end of the match crushed City’s spirits on home soil.
