Rio Ferdinand's verdict on Andre Onana's mistakes during Galatasaray vs Man Utd as Peter Schmeichel's reaction revealed

Former Manchester United stars have been discussing Andre Onana's key mistakes during Manchester United's draws with Galatasaray.

Former Manchester United stars have had their say on Andre Onana's blunders during Wednesday night's crucial away clash with Galatasaray. Alejandro Garnacho put United ahead in Turkey, while Bruno Fernandes scored a stunner to make it two, but that's where the drama began.

Hakim Ziyech delivered a relatively tame free-kick, only for Onana to completely misread it, allowing it trundle into the net. Scott McTominay extended United's lead back to two, but disaster struck again for Onana when Ziyech took another free-kick, this time from an angle and much further out. Again, Onana misread the delivery and failed to keep it out. Galatasaray went on to level through Muhammed Kerem Akturcoglu.

The result is a costly one for United, whose Champions League hopes hang in the balance, as do their hopes of progressing to the Europa League. Former United star Robbie Savage had his say on the error, saying on TNT Sports: "The goalkeeper, I think it has bounced just in front of him and he’s tried to push it up but that’s terrible goalkeeping. Two errors for me. Is he anticipating a touch off his own player?” United legend Rio Ferdinand added: "Wow. Just when you thought United were looking a bit composed a mistake like that." Commentator Darren Fletcher then shared the reaction he saw from Peter Schmeichel in the media area. He said: "Peter Schmeichel just sat along from us has just put his head in his hands, Robbie."

Onana has attracted plenty of criticism over his performances since arriving at Old Trafford on a big-money deal in the summer, and these mistakes won't help him as he looks to flip the narrative.
