Manchester United announced their third summer signing, with the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund.

Rasmus Hojlund was unveiled on the Old Trafford pitch on Saturday, as his transfer from Atalanta to Manchester United was officially confirmed.

The striker joins the Red Devils for an initial fee of £64m, with a further £8m to potentially be paid in add-ons. The 20-year-old is United’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Mason Mount and Andre Onana.

In a statement United said: "Rasmus Højlund has joined Manchester United on a contract running until June 2028, with the option of a further year, subject to international clearance.

"At the age of just 20, the striker has scored 27 goals in 87 club appearances, including 10 in Italy for Atalanta last season. Already a senior international, Højlund has scored six goals in his six appearances for Denmark."

“It is no secret that I have been a fan of this great club since I was a small boy, and I dreamed of walking out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player," Hojlund said. "I am incredibly excited by this opportunity to turn that dream into a reality, and I am determined to repay the faith that the club has shown in me. It is still early in my career, but I know that I am ready to make this step up and play with this group of world-class players.”

The player was presented at Old Trafford ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Lens, the Red Devils’ penultimate match of pre-season. Hojlund follows in the footsteps of Raphael Varane and Casemiro, who were also unveiled at Old Trafford in each of the last two summers as their transfers were completed.

Hojlund walked out the tunnel and received a thunderous reception from his new supporters, as he waved to the fans and took a selfie in the centre circle. The forward also posed for a picture while holding aloft United's '23/24 home jersey.

The Danish international could make his debut for the Red Devils on 14 August when United host Wolverhampton Wanderers at home in the Premier League. Hojlund adds to United's existing options up top, along with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
