Manchester United are making progress in their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund, according to reports.

The Red Devils have identified the Dane as their priority target in the transfer market and there’s a belief that a deal will be completed. In fact, The Athletic claim United expect the transfer to be wrapped up in time for the first match of the Premier League campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers, on 14 August.

Erik ten Hag already has a plan in place for Hojlund, the outlet adds, with the United boss viewing the striker as a ‘rough diamond’ who may need to be rotated upon arrival. There’s even a plan to slowly integrate Hojlund, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial also options in the no.9 role.

As per the Telegraph, an offer of €50m (£43m) plus €10m (£8.5m) in add-ons has been tabled for the Atalanta star, but the Serie A side are demanding a higher fee for the in-demand striker. The Telegraph also claim United can afford to buy Hojlund without having to offset the fee by selling any more players, while any future departures could fund further incoming transfers.

Despite that, Paris Saint-Germain remain a slight concern in all of this. The French champions have submitted a £43m offer for the Danish international, according to talkSPORT, yet the outlet add Hojlund would prefer a move to Old Trafford.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also reports United have ‘scheduled new round of talks with Atalanta’ to discuss Hojlund. “It will happen this week,” Romano adds in a tweet, while claiming a five-year contract has been agreed already.

The 20-year-old scored 16 goals last term for Atalanta and has been identified as a possible signing after a move for Harry Kane was deemed too complicated, while Victor Osimhen was too expensive. If a deal is completed for Hojlund, he will be the club's third summer signing after the arrivals of Mason Mount and Andre Onana.
