Rasmus Hojlund has revealed he has not set a date on his return from injury, essentially confirming he will not be available for Manchester United’s clash against Everton this weekend.

The striker has missed the last three games through with a knock and the club said on 23 February that Hojlund would be out for around ‘two to three weeks’.

There were suggestions on social media that the Danish international had returned to training this week, but he looks set to miss to miss this weekend's game.

“That would be nice. Let’s see, but I’m going to be back as soon as possible,” the ex-Atalanta man told United's website. “I don’t want to put a date on it, because it will just interfere or something, but I think we’re not far off.”

Hojlund was speaking after he was awarded the Premier League's Player of the Month Award for February 2024 following an impressive run that saw him score five goals in four appearances.

“I’m very happy,” he said. “Of course, it’s a big privilege to get this award, especially with the other contenders who were nominated as well. So yeah, I’m very grateful and happy for the award.”

Hojlund has scored seven goals in his last six league matches having failed to net in his first 14 appearances.

His absence is being even more keenly felt given United's lack of attacking options at present, with Anthony Martial injured. It resulted in Marcus Rashford playing up front against Fulham and Nottingham Forest, while United deployed Bruno Fernandes in a false nine role in last week's Manchester derby.
