Manchester United head into Sunday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal knowing that win would be a massive testament to their Champions League credentials under Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils would move to within three points of the league leaders with a victory, and could make it four consecutive top flight successes this afternoon.

But while there is plenty of football to focus on today, there are also a number of pieces of transfer speculation to keep an eye on too.

With that in mind, here are Sunday’s United-related rumours...

Jones ‘kicked out’ of first team dressing room

Forgotten man Phil Jones has been “kicked out” of United’s training ground dressing room to help make space for Erik ten Hag’s raft of summer signings, according to The Sun.

The first team changing room at Carrington is meant for a maximum of 24 players, and is said to be at capacity following the arrivals of several new players.

As such, Jones has been relocated to the U23s changing room.

Joining the 30-year-old are defenders Brandon Williams, Teden Mengi, and Alex Tuanzebe, as well as emerging midfield talent Shola Shoretire.

Right-back situation explained

Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano has explained how close United came to signing a new right-back in the latter stages of the transfer window.

The Red Devils were heavily linked with a move for Barcelona’s Sergino Dest, but a move failed to materialise and the USA international eventually ended up joining AC Milan on loan instead.

But Romano has claimed that United only ever planned to firm up their interest in a new full-back if they could first find a suitable suitor for Aaron Wan Bissaka.

Writing in a column for Caught Offside, he said: “The January transfer market is still far away, Erik ten Hag and the board will decide during the World Cup break. Certainly, Ten Hag is a big fan of Diogo Dalot, who has started really well this season.

“In the market, the only really concrete option in the last few days was Sergino Dest, but only if Wan Bissaka had left. In the end, there was not the right offer for AWB and so Man United decided not to proceed with a move for Dest on loan with a buy option.

“Dest has ended up moving to AC Milan on loan instead, so that is no longer an option. I’m not aware of United looking that closely at other right-backs, but we’ll see what happens in January.”

Osimhen ‘destined’ to leave Napoli

Reported United target Victor Osimhen is “destined” to leave Napoli, according to journalist Sandro Sabatini, as quoted by the Express.

The Red Devils were linked with a swoop for the forward this summer amid talk of Cristiano Ronaldo potentially heading to Naples.

In the end neither deal came to fruition, but Sabtini believes that Osimhen will still leave his current side sooner rather than later.

Speaking on Radio Sportiva, he said: “From a technical point of view, it is a questionable operation.

“Victor Osimhen is stronger than Cristiano Ronaldo - but overall it could have fit.

“The €100m [£86.5m] for Osimhen you can also take next year - it is in his destiny to leave.

“Cristiano Ronaldo you either get him now or you don’t. And if he had landed at Napoli, it would have given Aurelio De Laurentiis’ club great visibility.”
