Man Utd and Man City are up and running in the Premier League

It was a winning start of both of Manchester’s Premier League clubs during the opening weekend of the 2023-24 Premier League season.

Manchester City started the defence of their title with a 3-0 win at Burnley with Erling Haaland picking up where he left off last season as he scored twice at Turf Moor while Rodri put the gloss on a winning start of Pep Guardiola’s men on Friday night.

Manchester United beat Wolves 1-0 at Old Trafford in a hard-fought encounter as they claimed victory after the visitors were controversially denied a penalty deep into stoppage time. Raphaël Varane struck with the winning goal as he sent a towering header into the back of the net in front of the Stretford End.

There are 37 games left for each side before their final positions will be confirmed as City welcome Newcastle United to Manchester on Saturday night while United head to Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the evening.
