Few clubs have endured a start to the new season as bizarre as Manchester United’s.
The Red Devils were dire in their first two outings, but really turned things around in their last match, and picked up a wholly impressive 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday evening.

A number of players continue to be linked with late moves to Old Trafford, from up-and-coming attacking talents to vastly-experienced understudy goalkeepers.
With that in mind, and with just days left to go before the transfer window slams shut, here is Wednesday’s United-related speculation...
Antony is “obsessive”
Ajax winger Antony is “obsessive” over the prospect of joining Manchester United this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

And it would appear that the interest is mutual too.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained: “Antony told Ajax he wants to go to Man United. He’s insisting.
“He’s obsessive with Premier League football and in this case Manchester United.”
Romano added that Ajax are awaiting a new proposal from United after rejecting an offer last week.
United interested in Sommer signing

Hide AdUnited’s efforts to sign a new understudy goalkeeper could lead them to Borussia Monchengladback star Yann Sommer, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
The Red Devils are in the market for a talent who could provide cover and competition for David de Gea this season, and it is understood that they are weighing up a move for the 33-year-old Switzerland international.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Sheth said:“They have been interested in Yann Sommer from Borussia Monchengladbach, the Swiss number one as well. I’m not sure he would want to come to Manchester United because he is the number one for his club and his country with the World Cup only a few months away.
“And with Switzerland of course in it, he would want to maintain a number one position for the rest of the season or at least until the World Cup, so maybe that one would be a difficult one to do, even though Manchester United are interested.”
United “serious” about Gakpo

Hide AdAlongside their interest in Antony, United are also said to hold “serious plans” to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo.
The Dutch outfit face a crucial Champions League qualification play-off against Rangers on Wednesday evening, and there are suggestions from De Telegraaf that it could end up being Gakpo’s final outing for the club.
Despite PSV’s desire is to hang on to the 23-year-old in order to aid their title push this season, it is also claimed that his “departure cannot be prevented” - provided they were to receive the “right” offer. In this instance, a “right” offer would represent anything in the region of £42 million.
