Manchester United are keen on bringing in some new recruits to the club this summer but they also have some matters to take care of at Old Trafford too. There are quite a few players who could be moved on once the transfer window opens, but Erik ten Hag is also eager to get some contract extensions over the line as well.
One focus is Facundo Pellistri, and a fresh update has landed regarding where United stand on his current deal. The 21-year-old still has two years left on his contract but the Reds are looking to tie the exciting young talent down and get him more involved in the first team action.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United are now ‘advancing in talks to extend Pellistri’s contract until June 2028’. The winger has made nine senior appearances since joining the Reds three years ago. The majority of his features have been cameos, but he did play the full 90 minutes against Real Betis in the Europa League back in March.
Romano also reported that United’s plan for Pellistri is “very clear”, which strongly hints that ten Hag is looking to eventually integrate him further into his first team.
When it comes to United’s goal-scorers this season, Marcus Rashford is way out in front with 29 across all competitions. Any back-up options or potential competition for the in-form England international would be hugely beneficial for ten Hag but for now, the plan is to send Pellistri out on loan to give him more game time, according to Romano.
The youngster, who has 11 caps for Uruguay, was highly praised by his compatriot Ronald Araújo last year. The defender described Pellistri as “surprising” and had a lot of praise for him.

“Especially since he hadn’t been playing. And more because of the level that he gave in the national team, that he was spectacular. Besides, we understood each other very well on the right wing. Facundo was the one who surprised me the most, yes.”
