Pep Guardiola is reportedly keen to land a Premier League player this summer as he looks to continue strengthening his Manchester City squad. City are once again in the thick of a Premier League title race, needing a big finish to the season to come out on top in their battle with Arsenal and Liverpool.

City have been smart in the transfer market over recent years, but they have spent their fair share of money to land top targets along the way. Some have worked out, with Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland proving fine captures, while others like Kalvin Phillips haven't quite hit the mark.

Still, the recruitment process never stops, with Guardiola and his staff working to keep the City squad among the best - if not the best - in the country and the world. As part of that process, Guardiola has reportedly 'fallen in love' with one particular player who currently plays in the Premier League.

According to Fichajes, Guardiola and City would ideally like to sign Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes this summer, though they are well aware that it will be a costly deal to pull off. Newcastle are likely to demand close to £100million to sell the midfielder, who only signed a new contract last year to take his deal up to 2028.

The Magpies will not want to sell, and especially not to a Premier League rival, but if they fail to secure European football this season, the Brazilian may well have other ideas, especially if City do express an interest. Newcastle snapped up Guimaraes for around £35million, but his progression since then means he is now valued significantly higher.
