You may not have heard the name Pape Matar Sarr before, but it’s one that Premier League fans could become accustomed to in the next few years.

The young Metz midfielder is reportedly a target for several of the division’s top sides and could even be on the move before the transfer window closes in a few weeks time.

So who exactly is Sarr and what would he bring to the Premier League?

Which clubs are interested in him?

Both Manchester United and Manchester City are supposedly keen on signing the teenager, while Chelsea are also monitoring Sarr.

The ever-ambitious Aston Villa had been linked with a move earlier this summer, while Real Madrid have been touted as possible destinations for the central midfielder.

What’s been reported?

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol says that Metz president Bernard Serin has travelled to England to discuss a possible move for Sarr.

However, the ever-in-the-know Fabrizio Romano told fan channel The United Stand that the Red Devils are only scouting the Ligue 1 sensation for now.

What do we know about Sarr?

He’s a young midfielder still very much trying to find a settled position, but is capable of playing at the base of midfield, in a box-to-box role, or in the more attacking areas.

Sarr made his Metz debut in November 2020 against Stade Brest and played in all of the last 20 league games for his club last season. The 18-year-old has also started in both of Metz’s games so far this campaign.

Sarr made his international debut for Senegal in March and has earned two caps to date. The highly coveted youngster is contracted at Metz until 2025 - which could increase his valuation - and is predominantly right footed.
