'One to watch' - Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United star has decision to make after 'crazy' transfer interest

The latest Man Utd transfer news and gossip with a first-team star attracting plenty of interest.

Joshua Zirkzee is attracting plenty of interest from several Serie A clubs after a difficult start to the season with Manchester United. The 24-year-old remained at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window and is highly rated by head coach Ruben Amorim due to his versatility as both an attacking midfielder and a striker.

However, Zirkzee has struggled for regular playing time throughout his United career and has only played 77 minutes of football across three substitute appearances so far this season. The Dutch forward came off the bench against Grimsby, Burnley and Man City but was an unused substitute again for the weekend win over Chelsea.

There are no immediate concerns from Zirkzee over a lack of playing time, though it could become more of an issue across the season if he does not get greater opportunities. If that were to be the case, a transfer could be considered next year, and the former Bologna forward would not be short of interest.

Fabrizio Romano claims there is still serious interest from several Serie A clubs over a move, after Juventus 'insisted like crazy' to try and sign him on loan with an option to buy back in January. Zirkzee and United both rejected the offer and decided it would be best for him to remain in Manchester for at last another season.

Writing for GIVEMESPORT, Romano said: "He is not a regular starter at Old Trafford now and, while the situation is still 100 per cent calm with Zirkzee fighting for his place, Italian clubs are keeping a close eye on the situation for January or the summer transfer window as they plan for potential new attacks.

"Zirkzee was a target for AC Milan in the summer of 2024 before he joined Manchester United, while Inter, Napoli and Juventus have all been very attentive in the last seven or eight months. It is one case to watch for in 2026, depending on what Manchester United decide to do. At the moment, they are keeping their doors closed. But Italian clubs have not stopped tracking Zirkzee."
