Manchester United youngster Omar Forson is set to join Italian side Monza.

The winger’s contract is set to expire at Old Trafford at the end of June and has been free to speak to other clubs for several months.

ManchesterWorld reported in April that the player and club were struggling to find an agreement on acceptable terms, with Forson hopeful of a bigger role at United despite the stiff competition for places in the attacking areas.

The Red Devils have made several attempts to tie Forson down to a new deal but the teenager has rejected those offers. Last week, the teenager was not named on the club’s annual retained list and it was confirmed that he was one of four players the club were still in negotiations with, along with Tom Heaton, Jonny Evans and Shola Shoretire.

However, with Forson now set to join Monza, United will be due a compensation fee for the academy graduate due to his age.

Monza, owned by former Italian president Silvio Berlusconi, gained promotion to Serie A for the first time in their history in 2022 and finished 12th this season. Their squad includes former Arsenal defender Pablo Mari and Danilo D'Ambrosio, who spent nine years at Inter Milan.

Forson made his senior United debut in January when he came off the bench in an FA Cup third-round win over Wigan Athletic. The attacker started his first game in a 2-1 Premier League loss to Fulham in February and made seven appearances throughout the campaign.
