Manchester United are reportedly interested in extending the contract of youngster Omari Forson.

The winger, who played six times in pre-season for the Red Devils over the summer, has impressed at youth level this campaign and has scored six in as many matches for the Under-21 side. He was also named on the bench for United’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich last month.

According to the Daily Mail, United are in talks with Forson about signing a new deal at the club. His current contract expires at the end of this season and United are said to be keen to tie him down to a longer-term deal.

The London-born teenager, who joined the Red Devils in 2019, previously was on the books of West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur. Forson has been capped at various England underage levels, but is also eligible to play for Ghana.

The attacker has not yet made a senior, competitive appearance for United and faces competition for places in the first-team squad from the likes of Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Facundo Pellistri, Amad and potentially Jadon Sancho, if he can reintegrate himself into Erik ten Hag’s plans.

Forson made headlines this summer when he was substituted by Ten Hag before half-time in a friendly against Borussia Dortmund, following a confrontation with Karim Adeyemi. Ten Hag said after the match he felt the change was necessary as Forson could have been sent off if VAR had been in use for the friendly game. “When there's VAR, he could be sent off. He played a good game. The opponent got annoyed at him," explained the Dutchman.
