‘Agreement reached’ - Fabrizio Romano provides Manchester United transfer update as deal edges closer

Manchester United are close to completing a third signing of the summer.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed Noussair Mazraoui has agreed personal terms with Manchester United as his transfer from Bayern Munich edges ever closer.

The Moroccan could become United’s third summer signing following the arrivals of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro earlier this window. Right-back has been identified as an area where the club would like to strengthen, with Denzel Dumfries also a player United like.

But it’s Mazraoui whose arrival looks more likely, with reports suggesting a transfer fee has been agreed with Bayern. However, United will need to sanction an exit for Aaron Wan-Bissaka if the deal is to happen. The right-back is a target for West Ham United, with Crystal Palace also understood to be interested.

United need to balance the books this summer and, for Mazraoui to arrive, Wan-Bissaka’s departure is imperative. Ahead of that potential deal going through, Romano posted another social media update on United’s potential new signing.

“Understand the agreement reached between Man United and Noussair Mazraoui is on five year deal valid until June 2029,” he wrote on X. “It also includes an option for further year, 2030. Same as Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro. Mazraoui, waiting for United… as they’ve to sell Wan-Bissaka.”

Assuming Mazraoui does sign for United, he will provide competition at right-back for Diogo Dalot. The Portugal international has not yet met up with the United camp in pre-season due to his involvement at Euro 2024, and is not among the players Ten Hag is willing to sell this summer.

Should Mazraoui join, he would be the fourth of Ten Hag’s ex-Ajax players to move to Old Trafford, after Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Andre Onana. The 26-year-old came through the youth ranks at Ajax and went on to play 137 times for the Amsterdam club before signing for Bayern in 2022.
