'Nothing' - Man Utd star makes Anfield atmosphere claim following 0-0 draw with Liverpool

A Manchester United star has expressed his ambivalence towards the atmosphere at Anfield following their 0-0 draw against Liverpool at the weekend.

Manchester United upset the odds on Sunday afternoon as they held an in-form Liverpool team to a 0-0 draw at Anfield and United's goalkeeper, Andre Onana, appeared nonplussed by the lack of atmosphere in his post match interview.

When asked what he felt when he heard the roar of the crowd at Anfield, the Cameroonian international merely replied 'nothing'. He put forth a stellar performance, keeping Liverpool's forwards quiet - none of their eight shots on target made it past him. Additionally, after the game was finished United legend Gary Neville also took aim at the atmosphere at Anfield, saying it was the 'worst' he had seen for a United vs Liverpool game on Merseyside.

What did Andre Onana and Gary Neville say about the game against Liverpool?

Speaking after the match, Onana said: "At Manchester United you're going to get that, I have to be ready for everything. I'm used to be playing big games with high intensity. Like I said, it was nice to play here today. We played a good opponent but we showed we have good players. Being Manchester United you must try to win.

"We are one of the biggest clubs in the world, so we want to win against all opponents. Today we showed character, we fought for each other, but that's not all, it is not enough. We must win, regardless of the opponent. It's good to have a clean sheet, but the most important thing is to win the match.  When you are part of this huge club, you have to win. I like to take everything upon myself to protect my players. I want them to be free, to be focused. I'm used to criticism. It doesn't bother me."

Meanwhile, in the studio, Neville said: "The atmosphere was the worst I've seen at Anfield ever for a Liverpool Manchester United game. I've always been complimentary of Liverpool fans but it's the quietest crowd I've seen in this game. I think there was maybe a little bit of overconfidence before the game, with people wearing Christmas jumpers with 7-0 on them and stuff like that!"
