Nine Manchester United players Erik ten Hag should sell when appointed manager - including club legend

The Dutchman looks set to become the Red Devils next manager - here is who he should sell in order to rebuild the squad.

Manchester United are on course to have one of their worst seasons in recent memory, with the club going a fifth consecutive campaign without silverware.

The Red Devils sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November after almost three years in charge of the club, replacing him with Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis until the end of the season.

This was a decision that received mixed reviews, especially with the club struggling with their form and Rangnick not managing a team since the 2018-19 campaign.

United look set to replace Solskjaer with current Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, with the Athletic claiming the Dutchman has ‘verbally agreed’ a deal with the Red Devils.

If appointed, Ten Hag has a huge job on his hands given the current crop of players at Old Trafford.

Fans, pundits and former players of United have criticised the squad due to their performances this campaign and what looks like a lack of effort, especially when losing.

Rafael van der Vaart has openly criticised Harry Maguire’s form so far and believes if the Red Devils players don’t ‘cooperate’ with Ten Hag, they will be ‘thrown out’ of the club.

Speaking to Ziggo Sport, Van de Vaart said: “Ten Hag to Manchester United? It’s nice. You don’t let a club like Manchester United wait. These players at Manchester United don’t have any excuses anymore. They made so many managers leave while they are playing so bad.

“Now they get a manager who will be very clear and will present his plan. Those who won’t cooperate will get thrown out.”

With that being said, here’s who Ten Hag should sell in order to rebuild the Red Devils’ squad this summer.
