Jadon Sancho will reportedly seek a permanent move away from Manchester United when his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund comes to an end this summer.

The 23-times capped England international’s future was the subject of intense speculation earlier this season after a widely reported fall-out with Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag. Sancho was banished from training alongside United’s first-team squad after he refused to apologise to the former Ajax boss after he was criticised for his attitude and performances at Carrington.

Sancho, who remains under contract at United until the summer of 2026, secured a loan move to former club Dortmund in January and has made a largely positive impact on Edin Terzic’s side as they look to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

The 23-year-old winger scored the first goal of his second spell with the Bundesliga giants in their weekend win against Werder Bremen and has shown some signs of the performances that persuaded United to make a £75m move for his services in the summer of 2021.

Speaking in the aftermath of Saturday’s win against Werder Bremen, Dortmund boss Terzic praised Sancho, saying: “Jadon is not a player who has a really hard or precise shot. He has a very quick shot – he is shooting before everybody else sees it. This is what we worked on this week, that he gets into these situations where he gains some confidence and I think that he did it really well. This was an example of what he is capable of, and hopefully, he can continue like this.”

Terzic and Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl are both believed to be in favour of extending Sancho’s time at Signal Iduna Park - but have privately admitted they would have to persuade United to accept a knock-down offer for the winger if a permanent move is to come to fruition.
