Manchester United could keep their experimental 4-2-2-2 formation when they travel to face Brighton in the early kick-off this weekend.
Erik ten Hag’s side scored late on to defeat Fulham 1-0 on the opening night of the Premier League season, but might line up in the same way they started the match, with summer signing Joshua Zirkzee on the bench again.
Although United’s goal came after they reverted back to a more typical 4-3-3 approach, their best football actually came prior to that, when they dominated proceedings and looked in control both with and without the ball.
Noussair Mazraoui will keep his starting role at right-back, while Matthijs de Ligt could come into the side in place of Harry Maguire. If the formation remains the same, Mason Mount and Marcus Rashford could both keep their starting roles as well.
Here is how we think United should line up:

2. CB - Matthijs de Ligt

3. CB - Lisandro Martinez

4. RB - Noussair Mazraoui
It was an encouraging debut from Mazraoui and he should remain in his favoured position. | Manchester United via Getty Images Photo: Manchester United via Getty Images
