Manchester United will hope to turn their fortunes around when they return to action following the September international break.
Erik ten Hag's side showed brief glimpses of promise in the two opening matches of the new Premier League campaign but were knocked back down to earth by fierce rivals Liverpool at the weekend.
In the absence of the injured Mason Mount, United reverted to a 4-3-3 formation, which backfired as they were cut apart on numerous occasions by Arne Slot's side and unable to take control of the match.
United will need much improvement when they face Southampton next week but will likely still be without Mount, while injured duo Luke Shaw and Rasmus Hojlund might be lacking match sharpness.
It means we could still be a few weeks away from United having their best team available and this is what it could look like when everyone is fit:

2. CB - Matthijs de Ligt
De Ligt was one slight positive from the Liverpool defeat and is ahead of Harry Maguire in the current pecking order. | Manchester United via Getty Images Photo: Manchester United via Getty Images

3. CB - Lisandro Martinez

4. RB - Noussair Mazraoui
After a bright start to life at his new club, Mazraoui probably deserves to keep his starting role ahead of Diogo Dalot. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images
