Manchester United are working on new deals for teenage duo Kobbie Mainoo and Willy Kambwala after their recent success in the first-team.

The duo both shone in the weekend draw with Liverpool and have enjoyed impressive breakthrough campaigns at senior level. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is eager for United to maintain their illustrious history of producing homegrown talent and is believed to have been impressed with what he has seen from the duo so far.

ManchesterWorld understand that while United are confident of agreeing improved terms for the duo, there is no immediate rush to get those new contracts finalised.

That is particularly relevant in the case of Mainoo. The midfielder has already seen his wage increase significantly this season having activated a number of performance based add-ons that were included in the latest deal he signed in February 2023. United feel relaxed surrounding his future at the club, but they are keen to reward his meteoric rise with a new deal that recognises his talents as one of the best teenagers in world football.

A proposed new deal for Mainoo could see him signed up to United for the remainder of the decade and the agreement could even be reached before the end of the current campaign. Sources say he remains focused on his football amid all the hype surrounding him and his future.

There is more urgency to reach an agreement with Kambwala, given he is only contracted up until 2025 and will therefore enter the final year of his current deal this summer. The structure of his current deal is different to that of Mainoo in that it doesn't include the same performance based add-ons, so there is an incentive to reward him with terms that reflect his greater importance to the first-team.

Kambwala signed his first professional contract with the club back in October 2021 and would be set for a significant wage increase on those terms.
