Manchester United will be looking to extend their unbeaten Premier League run to eight games when they welcome Watford to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The match, which kicks off at 3pm, will see Ralf Rangnick’s side try and secure their third league win in as many matches after a 4-2 win over Leeds United last weekend. Goals from Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Fred and Anthony Elanga were enough for United to secure all three points.

This before their 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in their Champions League Round of 16 tie on Wednesday evening.

As for Watford, they have only one victory in their last 13 league games, most recently losing 4-1 to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

The sides head into the game 15 places apart in the league, with the Red Devils fourth in the table, while Watford sit 19th.

United have the better record against in the Premier League. In their previous 15 meetings in the competition, the Red Devils have won 12 of them, while the Hornets have 3 victories.

The last time the two clubs met was in November when Watford ran out 4-1 winners at Vicarage Road. The win resulted in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being sacked as United manager.

What’s the latest team news?

There were three changes made to the Red Devils starting XI against Atletico with Raphael Varane, Fred and Marcus Rashford coming into the side.

United confirmed Scott McTominay would not be part of their 23-man squad due to illness; he was replaced by Fred in the starting XI, while Nemanja Matic returned to the bench against Leeds and played several minutes on Wednesday.

Eric Bailly was named as a substitute for the Champions League tie but did not feature, nor did Edinson Cavani, who is still sidelined with a groin injury.

Rangnick confirmed via United’s official website that McTominay and Cavani will be absent from the game against Watford on Saturday.

He said: “The situation is exactly the same. He [Cavani] hasn’t been training with us so he won’t be available for tomorrow’s game and the same is true with Scotty. He is still ill, he hasn’t been training with us, so hopefully he will start training with us again next week, but for tomorrow’s game they will both be unavailable.”

As for Watford, they will likely be without Josh King, Joao Pedro Juraj Kucka, while Peter Etebo and Kwadwo Baah recently returned for the Hornets in a Under-23s game.

The match won’t be shown live on tv due to all 3pm kick-offs in the UK coming under a broadcast blackout.
