Manchester United have made five changes to their starting line-up to take on Tottenham Hotspur, from the side which played last week against Manchester City.

The biggest of those, is the absence of Bruno Fernandes, with a report in the Athletic claiming the midfielder has tested positive for Covid-19.

It had been reported earlier in the day that David De Gea had also tested positive, but he starts in nets.

Those five changes see Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Nemanja Matic, Marcus Rashford and Cristano Ronaldo start.

De Gea starts in front of a back four of Dalot, Varane, Harry Maguire and Alex Telles, with the latter playing as Luke Shaw remains absent due to a recent positive Covid result.

It looks set to be a midfield three for United, with Fred, Matic and Paul Pogba selected through the middle, while it’s a trident of Jadon Sancho, Rashford and Ronaldo up top.

Edinson Cavani, who hasn’t played in over a month due to a groin issue, is on the bench for the hosts, as is the in-form Anthony Elanga.

As for Tottenham, it’s one change from Monday’s win over Everton, with Sergio Reguilon replacing the injured Ryan Sessegnon.

Spurs approach the game two points behind United in the table and, crucially, with two games in hand on the Red Devils. That’s why a loss for Rangnick’s side would be so significant at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are a point ahead of United in the table and have played three games fewer in the league. They’re in action on Sunday when they host Leicester City.
