Manchester United team news vs Leicester as Ruud Van Nistelrooy 'hopeful' star will be fit

The Man Utd team news ahead of their clash with Leicester City in the Premier League.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is ‘hopeful’ Amad Diallo will be fit when Manchester United face Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Ivorian shone for United in their 2-0 victory over PAOK on Thursday night but suffered a late scare when he was forced off with an ankle issue in the final moments of the match. Amad told reporters at full-time that his issue wasn’t too serious, though there is still a question mark over his availability ahead of their clash with Leicester this weekend.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Van Nistelrooy issued an update on the youngster as well as the currently side lined Kobbie Mainoo. “Amad was assessed, still working on him to get him ready for Sunday,” he told reporters. “Hopefully it will work and Kobbie is also progressing in his injury he's making thee right steps, not yet with the team, though, that needs a bit more time.”

United were at least handed a boost ahead of the match, with Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro both returning to team training. The duo won’t be available to face Leicester this weekend but Van Nistelrooy is pleased with the improved injury situation.

He added: “Yeah, also for me, I have to say yesterday we had a lot of benefit from Christian playing a good 30 minutes, for Ugarte and Mason making his first mins back, that benefited us as well so glad that they're back. And also for a little bit longer good Luke and Leny are on the pitch.
