Manchester United 'target' Lille star after Raphael Varane exit - but Real Madrid factor could be key


The summer transfer window opens on Friday and it is expected to be a big summer of change at Old Trafford.
With the future of manager Erik ten Hag still to be resolved, United are still expected to be making major changes within their squad this summer - with a new defender deemed a priority.

Hide AdAnd they have been linked with teen sensation and Lille star Leny Yoro. The France U-23 international stands at 6ft 3” and United have been credited with a strong interest. However, they appear to face strong competition for his signature, with European champions Real Madrid also linked.
Sky Sports report: “Manchester United want to sign Lille star Leny Yoro but he prefers a move to Real Madrid, according to Marca. Man Utd need reinforcements in defence with multiple injuries last season and the departure of Raphael Varane.
“But the 18-year-old has told Champions League winners Real Madrid that he wants a move to Spain, joining fellow Frenchman Kylian Mbappe at the club.”
Meanwhile, Man United have reportedly identified England's Eberechi Eze as a potential marquee signing this summer, but they face competition for his signature. Eze was one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, starring on a weekly basis for Crystal Palace as the Eagles claimed a top half finish under Oliver Glasner.

Hide AdThe attacking midfielder hit the back of the net on 11 occasions this season, while he also recorded four assists to hammer home his creative talents. It comes as no surprise to see his name linked with top six clubs this summer then, despite his £60 million release clause.
