An agreement has been reached for the former Juventus and PSG midfielder to sign a two-year deal having been a free agent after his contract with Italian giants Juventus expired this summer. He had previously been linked with United on several occasions this summer.

The deal is subject to a medical. This summer United instead snapped up Manuel Ugarte from PSG in his position at the end of August following Scott McTominay’s exit to Napoli.

BBC Sport report: “Marseille are second in Ligue 1 under new manager Roberto de Zerbi and Rabiot will join summer signings including Mason Greenwood, Neal Maupay and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Olympique de Marseille announces that it has reached an agreement in principle with Adrien Rabiot for the arrival of the French international midfielder at the club," the club said in a statement.

"The player will sign with OM subject to the results of the medical examination."

The French international returns to his homeland after spending five years in Turin with Juventus. During his time in Italy, Rabiot collected one scudetto and two Italian cups.
