Manchester United star spotted in protective boot after latest injury scare

Man Utd were handed another injury scare in their goalless draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire was spotted wearing a protective boot as he left Villa Park following their goalless draw with Aston Villa at the weekend.

United put in an improved defensive performance to ease the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag but will once again draw criticism for their lack of attacking threat against Villa.

Ten Hag had made four changes from the side that drew 3-3 with FC Porto in midweek as Maguire, Jonny Evans, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho came in for Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Amad Diallo.

Evans, 36, was the best performer for United on the day, and shone as part of a makeshift defensive line that was ripped apart at half-time of the match following injury to Maguire.

Maguire went down in agony in the dying seconds of the first-half and signalled to the bench that he needed to be replaced during the break. He was eventually replaced by Matthijs de Ligt as the teams emerged for the second-half, while full-back Noussair Mazroaui also came off to be replaced by Victor Lindelof.

After the match, Maguire was spotted hobbling out of Villa Park in a protective boot, sparking fresh injury concerns for United heading into the international break.
