Manchester United star of the season suggests he could leave for free next summer
The Man Utd star has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.
Christian Eriksen says he hasn't yet held talks with Manchester United regarding his future after entering the final year of his contract at the club.
The 31-year-old fell down the pecking order in his second season at the club, but has enjoyed a renaissance in the starting line up under Erik ten Hag this campaign and has arguably been the club’s most impressive outfield player.
Eriksen has started six of United's 10 matches this season, with two of their three winnings coming in games when he has played from the start.
Speaking on international duty this week, the experienced midfielder was asked about his contract situation and the continued transfer speculation following summer interest from former club Ajax.
"No, we are not there at the moment [talks about staying put]," he told Danish outlet Bold. "I have one year left, and then we can have another conversation next year when you stand in a different place."
He added: "I had no thoughts about moving on. And I didn't hear from the club that they wanted to sell me or that I had to leave. I really just felt that the family and I were doing really well. If something really exciting came along, or something where I really felt: 'I want to try this,' then fair enough, but it wasn't something that I had to leave."
