Manchester United star hints at rare start vs West Ham - only made three Premier League appearances all season
The early team news as Man Utd host West Ham United in the Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon.
Ruben Amorim could make wholesale changes to his Manchester United starting line up again when they host West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. United play twice in the league before their huge Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur and will have to be careful with how they manage the fitness of their squad.
It means Amorim could name a similar side to the one that lost 4-3 to Brentford a week ago, with as many as eight changes to his line up in total. Tyler Fredricson and Harry Amass will both hope to keep their places in defence, while teenage forward Chido Obi could lead the attack in place of Rasmus Hojlund.
Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount will both hope to start after they changed the game from the bench against Athletic Club in midweek, while Amad Diallo could start his first match since his recent return from injury. It already seems like one change is certain though.
Altay Bayindir is expected to start vs West Ham
Manchester United made eight changes to their starting line up for the trip to face Brentford a week ago, once of which saw Altay Bayindir handed a rare start in goal. The Turkish goalkeeper made just his ninth competitive appearance for the club at the Brentford Community Stadium and only his third ever appearance in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim opted to rest Andre Onana entirely for the match but gave him the starting role for the midweek win over Athletic Club in their Europa League semi-final second leg. It looks like he could make the same decision this weekend as well, judging by Bayindir's social media activity.
The 27-year-old does not normally have a matchday post on social media, but took to his Instagram story on Sunday morning to upload a graphic of himself along with the details for the upcoming fixture. Although it is not strict confirmation of his starting role, it would certainly be unusual for him to upload such a post if he was not going to play in the match.
It could also be one of the final times Bayindir plays at Old Trafford, with the expectation he will leave the club in the summer transfer window. Amorim has doubts over his goalkeeper options and would like to sign a new backup keeper in the coming months. Andre Onana is expected to be given another year to prove himself at the club, while Tom Heaton will be offered a new one-year deal to remain third-choice goalkeeper.
