Paul Pogba is out of contract in the summer and has long been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

The Manchester United star turned down an extension last summer and it is looking increasingly likely he will join one of the numerous clubs keen on him.

However, The Sun has reported that the Red Devils have made one last attempt at holding onto the Frenchman by offering him a bumper new contract.

The deal is thought to be worth a whopping £500,000 a week and would make Pogba the highest paid player in the Premier League.

The staggering offer would top his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo’s current salary and would also be £100,000 higher than rival European clubs deals.

However, reports claim Pogba is yet to reach a decision on whether to take the Red Devils’ new offer and remain at Old Trafford.

With six months remaining on his current contract, the World Cup winner is free to make pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs now that the January transfer window has opened.

If the 28-year-old does choose to leave Manchester this summer then it will be a huge loss for Ralf Rangnick’s side, who paid Juventus almost £90 million for his services in 2016.

Manchester United have been linked with a number of central midfielders that could potentially replace Pogba, such as West Ham’s Declan RIce and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ruben Neves.
