Manchester United star shockingly axed by Lee Carsely in latest England squad
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been axed by Lee Carsely’s in his latest England squad.
The interim manager included Maguire in last month’s roster for games against Republic of Ireland and Finland, with the 31-year-old playing in the latter.

Maguire was a regular under previous England boss Gareth Southgate even when the former Leicester City man was not an automatic selection in the United team. The centre-back, who missed last summer’s Euros through injury, did start in cup games against Barnsley and FC Twente last month, but his lack of league minutes appears to be an issue for Carsley.
Maguire missed Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur with a knock but has recovered and was since named in the United squad that flew to Portugal on Wednesday ahead of the Europa League clash against Porto.
United’s sole inclusion in Thursday’s England squad announcement is Kobbie Mainoo, while there are five call-ups from Manchester City.

The City skipper has made several high-profile errors in recent weeks and his involvement at international level seems less certain. Meanwhile, Rico Lewis, John Stones, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish were among the 25-man group.
The biggest news was perhaps a first call-up for Dominic Solanke in nearly seven years after a positive start to the new campaign at Tottenham Hotspur.
