Manchester United set to complete triple signing as Bryan Mbeumo decision made
Man Utd will look to push on with their summer transfer rebuild under Ruben Amorim this month.
Manchester United are set to start the new month with a triple signing as they continue their chase for Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo. Matheus Cunha became the club's first summer signing when he joined from Wolves for £62.5m last month, with talks ongoing to add Mbeumo to their squad.
Brentford value the 25-year-old at £65 million and rejected United's second offer that was valued at an initial payment of £55m plus a further £7.5m in add-ons. It is understood Brentford would like at least £62.5m of the fee paid up front, as United did with Cunha, though there is confidence a compromise will be reached between the two clubs shortly.
United hope to have Mbeumo signed in time for the start of their pre-season schedule later this month and do not want to waste much longer chasing his signature. There remains a belief that an upfront payment of £60m could be enough for Brentford to accept, as long as the add-ons are viewed as realistically achievable by the London club.
Manchester United set to complete triple summer signing
Manchester United are set to start the month on the front foot with a triple signing already on the cards.
United will formally complete the signing of Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno, with the teenage left-back expected to sign an initial five-year deal as part of a transfer that could eventually be worth £7 million. United will pay the Paraguayan club an initial fee in the region of £3.2m, with add-ons that could eventually see it rise to a higher figure. They reached an agreement to sign Leon in the January transfer window but were unable to complete a deal until he turned 18 in April. The Paraguayan visited Manchester earlier in the year to complete his initial medical examinations.
United are also set to complete the signings of Southampton youngster Harley Emsden-James and Le Havre teenager Enzo Kana-Biyik in the coming days. The club won the race to sign Emsden-James amid fierce competition and will pay a compensation package in the region of £1 million for his services, which also include a 20 percent sell-on clause for the Championship club. It is understood football director Jason Wilcox played a key role in the negotiation of the deal with his former employers.
United are set to complete the signing of Kana-Biyik on a free transfer after his deal at Le Havre officially expired yesterday. The 18-year-old could get a chance to feature in the early stages of the pre-season schedule, but he is expected to join Ineos-owned Lausanne-Sport on loan for the forthcoming campaign.
