A number of players could yet leave Old Trafford before the transfer deadline with the likes of Scott McTominay and Jadon Sancho among players who are strongly linked with an exit, while Christian Eriksen is also among those who could leave. As reported by Sky Sports already, Sancho is attracting interest from ‘several’ European clubs between now and the end of the transfer window. Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the player is said to have cooled after they landed Rennes’ star Desire Doue, whilst Borussia Dortmund and Juventus were unable to meet his price tag.

However, in a new update from The Athletic, some of those working on transfer business at United ‘sense’ that Premier League rivals Chelsea could make a shock approach for Sancho. The Stamford Bridge club already have a large squad but that has not stopped the London outfit from continuing with their transfer business. United signed Sancho for around £73m from Borussia Dortmund back in the summer of 2021 but, according to The Athletic, will accept an offer of £40m for the winger before the window closes next week.

He had a public fallout with manager Erik ten Hag last season after comments were made about his performances in training before heading back to Dortmund on loan in the January transfer window. Ten Hag said during pre-season that a line had been drawn under the dispute with Sancho welcomed back into the senior set-up at the club. However, United are open to letting him go.

The Red Devils have signed Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui so far this summer while they remain keen on signing Manuel Ugarte from PSG. United got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start last week as Zirkzee scored on his league debut in a 1-0 win over Fulham. Up next is a trip to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, in what is the club’s final game before the window closes next week. Their first fixture after the window shuts is against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, September 1.
